Silk was actually born Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Ilkay Silk is the daughter Peter Silk, who is an academic and Anna Silk, a director, actress, producer, playwright. Anna can recall certain memories she had when she was a kid, such as seeing her mother work during play rehearsals. Silk had a number of commercials where she was featured when she was young. Silk completed her studies at St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas staged at least two early plays: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk relocated to Toronto to Los Angeles in the decade after 1999. Seth Cooperman was her future partner when she was introduced to him in an actor's workshop located in Los Angeles. In 2009 they were married civilly in December 2009. They renewed their vows on April 10, 2011 at Fredericton during the context of a Jewish ceremony following her conversion to an observant Jew.
